Summer Olympic Games 2020

The 32nd Summer Olympic Games, also known as the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, will be held in Tokyo, Japan, from July 24 to August 9, 2020. At its 125th plenary meeting, held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on September 7, 2013, the International Olympic Committee elected Tokyo as its host city. This is Tokyo's second hosting of the Summer Olympics after 1964, and Japan's fourth hosting of the Olympics, as well as its sixth winning of the right to host the Olympics. It has become the only Asian city to hold two Summer Olympics and the fifth city in the world to hold two Summer Olympics. It is also the first time that Japan has hosted the Olympic Games since entering the 21st century.

On July 22, 2018, the Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee announced the name of the mascot for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. The blue mascot was named Miraitowa, which implies the future and eternity.
